In Loving Memory
Ann Virginia Noel went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 26th, 2017. Ann was born in Yorkshire, England on January 15th, 1960 to Edward and Veda Joseph. She came to the United States as a young child and grew up in Brooklyn, New York where she attended P.S. 219 elementary school, Somers Junior High School, and South Shore High School. As a teenager, Ann loved participating in fashion shows, sewing her own outfits, and dancing, particularly to James Brown. Her love of music was diverse with artists from Gregory Isaacs to the Delfonics. As a hobby, Ann was a costume designer for an off-Broadway theater production. Also, she relished watching animal nature shows and playing solitaire and mahjong.
Ann married Thomas Noel and they had 2 children, Nicole and Edward. She began her career in banking at National Westminster Bank in Manhattan where she met her lifetime best friend Doris Henry. After 16 years in banking, Ann decided to pursue her passion for the medical field to become a Registered Nurse. Ann earned a Bachelor’s degree from the School of Nursing at Excelsior College. Thereafter, Ann spent 20 years in the nursing field ending her career at the Schulman and Schachne Institute for Nursing and Rehabilitation.
Ann greatly loved travelling throughout the Caribbean. She visited numerous islands including the Dominican Republic, Aruba, Costa Rica, Jamaica, Turks and Caicos, Grand Cayman, Antigua, Haiti, Puerto Rico, St. Thomas, St. John, St. Croix, St. Martin, and, of course, her parents’ homeland, Carriacou, Grenada. Ann and her sweetheart of 10 years, Jonathan Fleming, enjoyed many of those trips together. They loved ziplining in Costa Rica and jet skiing in the Dominican Republic where she visited 6 times. Their scheduled trip to St. Lucia this month was not meant to be.
Ann was so loved and will be greatly missed. She is survived by her daughter Nicole; son Edward; mother Veda; father Edward; sisters Joyce and Josephine; brothers Bernard and Victor; 3 grandchildren Christopher, Krystal, and Maalia; nieces Brittany, Tiffany, and Kristina; nephews Clayton Jr., Julian, Dexter, Rickson, and Kevin; sister-in-law Lydia; aunts Mada, Sarah, Clyrine, and Lorina; uncles Hamilton, Lenix, Murchison, Anthony, Richard, and Nicholas; and many cousins and friends whose love and connection to Ann will be everlasting in their hearts. We will miss you Ann.
