Patricia Beatrice Durant was born on September 17th, 1946, in Georgetown, British Guiana. She was the second child and daughter of her parents, Joseph and Virginia Durant who predeceased her. She is also predeceased by her sibling, Gordon Durant.
Patricia attended Alleyne High School, and she emigrated to the United Kingdom in 1965 where she attended Nursing School to become a Registered Nurse. She lived in the United Kingdom from 1965 to 1976, then she immigrated to the United States in 1976.
Patricia worked at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital for a great number of years, and was the Nurse Manager of Columbia Presbyterian Orthopedic Department.
In 1982, Patricia and Leon Smith were married, and divorced sometime later. Their union produced one son, Justin Brandon. Her main focus was raising Justin the “love of her life”. Patricia had a big heart, and she was known for not spoiling the child and sparing the rod and she brought new meaning to the phrase “tough love”. She loved to travel, and she loved her family unconditionally.
