Our beloved Nene was a mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend to many. Clelie Termilus was born on July 22, 1940 in Orangers, Croix-des-Bouquets, Haiti. She was the fourth child of 4 children to Orelus Thermilus and Erzulie Georges.
Ms. Termilus grew up in the beautiful country of Haiti with her four siblings-two sisters and one brother.
She was known to everyone by her nickname “Nene".
Nene completed preliminary schooling in Croix Des Missions. She fearlessly emigrated to Brooklyn, N.Y. with her former husband and only child to seek a better life. Nene came to America during the 1970’s, worked as a factory worker, and later found her passion for childcare to many in the Haitian community.
Nene was a sweet, kind yet strong-minded lady who never took “no” for an answer .She was generous to the family members who entrusted their children's care in her hands. Her love for children was truly a gift from God. She never turned a family away due to childcare costs. Nene played an important role as the childcare provider of her four grandchildren-Matthew, Bryan, Clarissa, and Justin.
Nene instilled the importance of family values, wisdom and the importance of helping others. Her affectionate smile and laughter warmed the hearts of her family and friends. Nene adored her extended family in Haiti by consistently caring for them as well. You could always count on Nene for her wisdom on life and amazing Haitian dishes that she cooked with pure love. If you stopped at Nene’s, know that your belly would be full before you left her home. Nene enjoyed Haitian music, listening to Haitian politics and engaging in deep political conversations. Those who had the pleasure of talking toNene were left amazed by how much knowledge, wisdom, and charisma came from a small statured lady who demanded attention when she softly spoke.
Nene’s tireless and unconditional love to her family and friends were evident even in her final moments in life.
Clelie is survived by her son John, daughter-in-law Valencia & hergrandchildren, Matthew, Bryan, Clarissa, Justin; her great grand-daughter Tsekani, and countless number of family and friends that will miss her dearly.
Clelie Termilus lived a simple yet fulfilling life. May her soul Rest In Peace and forever dwell in the House of the Lord!
