Lutha Theresa Christopher Bullen (better known as “Luthie”), went with God, on June 14, 2021, in Brooklyn, NY, USA with her daughter and her son by her side.
This vivacious, fearless child of God was born February 2, 1940, to Agatha and Lawson Christopher in River Salle, St. Patrick’s, Grenada, W.I. She is survived and always will be loved by her husband Tyrell Bullen, her 4 children: Patricia (Patsy), Judy, Stephen (Steve), and Martin. Her lineage also included 20 grandchildren (with one preceding her); even more love from her 8 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends. She was also loved by her surviving siblings: Lenny, Gregory, Anthony (Tony), Edyln, Matthew and Gualbert. She was preceded in death by her other siblings Paul Louisa, Aemilius (Amil) and Xavier.
In life, Luthie began her career as a teacher in Grenada, better known as “Teacher Lutha”. Luthie foreseen a brighter future for her and her family and migrated to Brooklyn, NY with her children. She continued working as a teacher in the public school system; then as a book keeper at “Patron”; then in the accounts payable department at Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center while obtaining her AAS from NY City College of Technology and a BA from Baruch College for Business Administration. She later became a dedicated auditor for NY State Insurance Fund where she eventually retired in 1997 and went back to the Spice Isle.
Because of her love for her flourishing family she came back to Brooklyn to help rear and teach her lineage and to inspire future generations to be loving, strong, firm (but fair), independent, witty, and charming. Luthie always had constant love in her heart and filled the home with the aromas of Grenadian cooking and the sounds of music. Luthie was loved by all she touched; a strong believer in the catholic faith, who loved dancing to soca and always ready to travel. Even through her final years, whenever music was played, she would get up and dance.
Luthie, Mommy, Mom, Grandma, Friend, Wife & Teacher will FOREVER be QUEEN, be LOVED and be ETERNALLY remembered in our HEARTS and SOULS.
