Michael Anthony Vazquez, 67, of Brooklyn, New York, took his last breath during the late afternoon of Wednesday, March 18, 2020 at Kings County Hospital in Brooklyn, NY.
Michael was born on the 6th day of July 1952 at St. Johns hospital in NY City. Michael was the oldest of 3 children born to the late Miguel Antonio Vazquez and late Elizabeth Cora Vazquez. He was educated in the New York City school system, graduating from Fort Hamilton High School, even attending 1 year of classes at Brooklyn College. While he held various jobs, he made his biggest impression a member of the New York City Transit Authority.
Mike, as he was known to his closest friends and family, was known for his strong and giving personality, quick to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He had a great sense of humor and loved to tell stories. He loved reading comic books, watching America’s team, the Dallas Cowboys, and watching wrestling. Perhaps that is what inspired his nickname amongst his Transit buddies, Kamala.
During his retirement, he loved to travel and eat good food, watch his favorite court shows and keep up with current events from around the country. He never met a home shopping channel that he didn’t love.
Michael leaves to cherish his memories a loving son, Justin Vazquez (Kamilah) from his first marriage to Andrena Vazquez, his brothers Gregory Vazquez of Newark, Delaware (Theresa), and Christopher Vazquez (Alethea) of Charlotte, North Carolina. His nieces, Monique and Kimberly, nephews Dennis, Damien, and Tory, as well as a host of other cousins.
