June 8, 1944 ~ January 9, 2022 (age 77)

Obituary

Robert Borgella, 77, of Queens, NY, was called to heaven on January 9th, 2022.
Robert was born on June 1st, 1944 although mistakenly documented June 8th, 1944 to Aristie Borgella and Grace Tatailler in the countryside of Haiti. His family soon moved to Port-Au-Prince, Haiti. Robert was a skilled tailor who worked in his fathers shop as an apprentice. He later took over the business continuing his fathers legacy. Robert stepped into the role of head of household for his mother and siblings.

Determined to provide for his family and give them the life he felt they deserved. In 1966, Robert set his sights on the American Dream. Where opportunity was available to each person based on their own determination or intellect, And Robert had both… Robert was a self-made businessman and a man about his business!

Robert was a force of nature, he owned and operated the famous NYC Yellow Taxi Cab, as well as many other entrepreneurial ventures, including immigration services. His family meant more to him than anything else in the world, something he often mentioned. He was unendingly proud of his children Margalie Babb, Marie Claude Borgella, Lisa Borgella, Woody Borgella, Kaity Borgella, Robert ‘Berto’ Borgella, and Andy Borgella. He always tried his best to support them.

Robert was passionate about God, films, politics, astrology and music, and could often be found either listening to his favorite tapes or watching his expansive collection of movies…. He could have opened his own store. Robert loved the rain and oftentimes went for a stroll during a rainstorm.

Anyone who knew Robert, knew that he was the most loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend anyone could ask for. He is predeceased by Aristie Borgella and Grace Tatailler & four siblings. He is survived by his children Maggie, Marie Claude, Lisa, Woody, Kaity, Berto, and Andy, step-children Roosevelt, Alethia, Andrea, Nyesha and 17 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren with a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
