Willie Ann Brown was born on April 18, 1950 in Marlboro County, South Carolina. She was the seventh of eight children born to Hilton Burns Sr. and Marie Lydge-Burns.
Willie Ann moved to Brooklyn, New York to be with her sisters Annie and Maggie when she was sixteen years old.
In 1972 she met the love of her life and future husband Harry Brown Sr. It was clear to anyone who met them that Willie Ann and Harry loved each other very much. They prioritized family above all else and always showed love and support to those who were close. Although they did not have any biological children, they loved children and were surrogate parents to many of their nieces and nephews whenever possible. They remained together until his death in 2006.
Before retiring, Willie Ann made a living as a school bus matron, helping transport disabled children to and from school safely. She took pride in her job and enjoyed being of service to those who were vulnerable. Willie Ann had very close relationships with her sisters and brother James. She was a devoted sister and friend who always showed up and always ready to help out.
Willie Ann departed this life peacefully on the morning of her birthday April 18, 2021. She will forever be remembered for her kindness, loyalty and ability to love unconditionally.
She is survived by her sisters Maggie Burns, Annie Turner and Linda Douse; sisters and brothers in-law; and hosts of nieces, nephews and their children and extended family.
God bless our beloved Willie Ann as she is welcomed into His kingdom to re-join her beloved husband, Harry; sisters: Mary, Rosalie and Rosetta; brothers: James, Levi, Joseph and Hilton Jr., who preceded her.
